Introduction

After studying music during my first year I decided I wanted to further my knowledge and my ability within Music and so begins my second year of Musicianship!

My aims and intentions are to expand upon what I learnt last year. My primary focus this year will be on improving my vocal ability, my main instrument being my voice. I have already had one singing lesson this semester and I intend on continuing these throughout the year. I aim to increase my vocal range - I am a mezzo-soprano but notes at the top and bottom of my range often sound flat. I'd also like to learn various techniques allowing me to breathe properly and then sustain my breath - which is something I really struggle with. Val Reid, my singing coach says "I have a strong, powerful voice but I need to learn how to work my diaphragm and control my breathing in order to really show what I can do and support my voice (with my breath)". I am currently rehearsing for a musical and so working on Musical Theatre pieces so I plan to research some musical theatre-esque technique as well as other vocal exercises. Since last year I have also joined Sunderland Choir in the hope of improving my ability to harmonize and sing as part of an ensemble.

Below is a link to my soundcloud and a clip of a possible audition piece for Chicago;
